Karl 1: I have the vision of me in front of me, but I would like You to describe You, three words would be enough.
Karl 2: Myself in 3 words I need more than that…First I have no opinion, Second I’m never happy with myself…Third I don’t deliver a description of my person, you have what you see, that’s all, there’s nothing behind.
Karl 1: What do you do to stay fresh and driven? …Is there a secret of your–of our–success?
Karl 2: …the only secret is WORK. Get your act together, there are not too many secrets, or perhaps live a decent life: don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t do drugs. …It depends on how much you want to do what you do…Don’t think you are a victim of the system, I don’t believe in that at all. If somebody in this business thinks he is a victim of the system, then it means he’s not in a real job, then he should be in another job….
Amsterdam, The Netherlands – Revolutionary designer, Bas Kosters, Spring Summer Fashion Show was spent wild with color and a host of ringtones as the models jetted down the catwalk with big phones. The designer was sponsored by Vodafone this year and opened the show with his Anti Fashion Band singing to the runway a lovesong about calling. The fashion models walked confidently with puffy hair crimped out to the stratosphere with occasional interruptions of musical service with the classic “All our operators are busy with other customers, please hold the line…” boring operator voice freezing them wherever they were on the runway. The first time it happened, the crowd was sure that the DJ had pulled the plug in the sound booth–only to erupt in cheers and laughter when they heard the all too familiar Dutch voice asking them to wait on the line. With the next song reviving them back into their fast paced catwalk movement, every song had a phone reference. One could think that Bas Kosters had sold his soul to the Vodadafone devil if it wasn’t so well produced, thought out, and the mixed music done well to remind us that we are at the dawn of the mobile era. The only thing missing was the Bas Kosters mobile phone app being SMS’d to everyone in their seats.
With an explosion of fire, and freaky flickering lights, the finale was even surprising as the models ran back and forth gathering more participants to the team, ending with Bas Kosters himself on the runway and a standing ovation from the press.
Paris, France – Karl Lagerfeld and Net-a-porter launch the new Karl Lagerfeld line today in Paris. Models lined up dressed a-la-Karl scanning the photos from the collection with their iPads. Crowds of people scanned the posters powered by Aurasma augmented reality. The news was first launched during Le Web 2011′s tech conference where Karl and Natalie launched a discussion with Loic le Meur on stage about fashion, Apple, and his new eCommerce project. Karl, a fan of all Apple products, sketched himself a portrait of Steve Jobs.
Judging by the reactions from the launch, the iPad application was full success. It will be interesting to hear in the coming weeks the success of the online sales from his collection. Photos from the launch can be seen on Net-a-Porter’s blog.
Brooklyn, NY — It is the new season and surely your stocking could not hold that new bag, bangle, brooch, and Bas Kosters dress your brother picked for your Christmas present. What to do to make space in your closet? You could sell it on ebay, but that’s not web 2.0 or sexy. You could sell it on your own blog, but how many followers do you really have? Or you could reFashion it and become a member on reFashioner website, where there are fans begging for that old Prada of yours.

Milan, Italy — Although they are latecomers to the social media scene, Italian fashion brand, Moschino, is making up for lost time. With an innovative PIC ME app, the brand is connecting with their community in a fun way to drive new awareness to their website. Like the Japanese sticker photobooths, Moschino invites their fans to post photos to their facebook gallery in a whimsical page.
It would have been cool to see them hook it up to Moo.com, and offer discounted printing to fans. It’s time to go beyond digital facebook pages that only benefit the brands, facebook fans should demand something physical in return for their colorful efforts.
To buy a perfume from Yves Saint Laurent (in outlet partners ), the brand will offer a small notebook with scratched YSL sketches. YSL will hide a golden ticket a la as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory style in the book for a lucky shopper to find. The lucky winner will get a session with a professional photographer shooting in Pin Up Studio, the largest photo studio in Paris.
This beautiful operation called “naked in a tuxedo” is produced in partnership with My Little Paris , which tells you more on its official website .

At the heart of Silicon Valley, it is no wonder Apple, Bloggers, Technology, and Fashion are coming together for one event, The San Francisco Fashion Week August 8th-14th, 2011. An off beat event making digital waves, the SFFAMA is serious about bringing the fashion week online and socializing. With it’s week long events in the Apple store showcasing local talent such as, Ben Raviv, Fashion Designer and CEO of Alphyn Industries, presenting how apparel technology enables the wearer to use a device on the go and how novel materials and old-world craftsmanship can bring comfort, style, and sophistication to the art of communication. It’s great to see Apple giving the floor to young designers such as Lawrence Valenti, Designer of SOLZ Shoes, which was founded on the belief that your shoes are an extension not only of your feet, but also of your personality. The cofounder and creative director, brings this belief to life on the Mac, including sketching product designs on a MacBook Pro and using iMovie to create videos for potential investors.
The FASHION FEUD was a live “Project Runway” like fashion design competition live on stage. Designers were given an hour to create a design to prepare for a runway show on stage. Then, a walk-off between fashion models donning each designers’ pieces to highlight the night with the audience’s cheers supporting their favorite designer of the evening. This was a great approach to bring an interactive style to the fashion week. It most definitely added a rush and a punch to designer’s creativity. Best use of prints, shape and style were judged. The winner was a short cocktail dress with accents on the side made by local San Francisco designer Gail B. Shrive.
The three runway events showcased local fashion talents and brought them into contact with customers in the business model of a fashion festival selling tickets to the public. Ken Chen with short bolero jacket bringing a London edge with brass buttons, Vayaro accessories were only fitting as everyone and their aunt most certainly has an iPhone or iPad, along with the futuristic San Francisco collection by Camelia Skikos who’s unusual use of color, layers, and shape is more for the Los Angeles crowd than worn downtown on Haight-Ashbury.
Alyssa Nicole surprises with a great fashion video and Jennifer Li catered to plus-sized models, finishing off was Prima Jiva with everyone’s easy to wear on a yacht ready-to-wear, versatile style.
The San Francisco fashion week is still young and growing, however as far as a platform for bringing fashion designers to the next level, it is a great venue that educates, connects, and is growing the local fashion industry. The SFFAMA is doing a great job by adopting new business models of fashion festivals, showcasing designers to potential customers and telling their stories at the Apple store, along with mashing up the local community through seminars and entrepreneurial talks. We expect with the fast expansion we have seen in social media and mobile that the San Francisco fashion week will soon be a destination in America for brands to connect with the wealthy tech community in no time. 360Fashion is a proud sponsor of this innovative event.
